Being the London Eye's approved main marine contractor, we are proud to have been involved in the recent addition of a new 32-metre pontoon to the existing pier. This has involved us designing and fabricating a new staircase and ramp to allow public access to the new pontoon. Repainting the floating protection booms & mooring line |
Island Marine recently undertook the task of repainting the 50-metre long floating protection booms and mooring line that attach the pier to the bank seat. The job involved high pressure washing of the floating area, removal of weed and debris around the water line, preparing the surface for paint adhesion and the application of the paint system. The high-profile location and abundance of water traffic required the most stringent safety measures, and our own safety boat was in attendance for the duration of the task.
The London Eye Pier is used by thousands of commuters and tourists daily. There are huge demands on its structure as a pick up point for the frequent water taxis and trip boats on the Thames. Our services extend to all marine related activities associated with the Pier. We are contracted to carry out a monthly maintenance inspection of the Pier and Brow and all associated structures, and provide a full report with recommendations of any remedial work necessary which we then carry out.
